PICOS DAY 2 OF 2 | Fuente Dé (Teleferico Upper Station) to Sotres

Day 2 of our two day hike in Picos de Europa (5-6 August 2026).

After we spent the night in Fuente Dé, we left around noon to the teleferico. There was quite a long line at the ticket counter of the teleferico, so best to buy tickets in advance (you can't buy tickets for the same day online).

Once at the upper station of the teleferico, the route was very easy to find and follow. It's a very easy and well indicated route to Sotres. The path is very wide; you could walk with 3-4 people next to each other, it's even accessible to 4x4 cars.

When we arrived back near Sotres we chose to take the earthy pathway (indicated by the waypoints) instead of following the road to Sotres. It's quite short and doable, but I would not recommend it if it is rainy as it seems to get slippery. Also, I would not recommend this if you do the hike in the opposite direction.

Over all, very relaxing hike. Nice scenery, lot of animals on the way (cows, sheep, we also saw an Egyptian vulture). Perfectly doable in both directions.
