Purbecks loop – approximately 59 km
A challenging full-day mountain bike ride exploring the Purbeck countryside. The route forms a large circular loop, taking in a mixture of quiet lanes, bridleways, heathland and undulating off-road trails, with some sustained climbs and fast, flowing descents.
At around 59 km with approximately 1,000 m of climbing, this is a demanding ride that requires a good level of fitness and the ability to ride for several hours. The route gets progressively more challenging as it reaches the Purbeck hills, with plenty of climbing and descending through the central and southern sections before a more gradual return towards the finish. This route takes in a stop at the Scott Arms at Kingston for lunch and a cheeky ice cream stop at Manor Farm Tea Rooms.
Expect a varied and scenic ride with some excellent views across the Purbeck landscape, but come prepared for a long day in the saddle. Riders should be comfortable with sustained climbs, uneven terrain and maintaining a steady pace over a full day's riding.
