Thwaites to Bingley via Druid's Altar

I reached Thwaites from Leeds with the Aireline #60 bus, and alighted on Wenning Street, though I think Aireline call this stop Valley Road.
The tour begins with a stiff climb up cobbled Thwaites Brow. I ignored the footpath to my left since I knew how overgrown it was near the top and continued on the road.
At the top of Thwaites Brow I turned left and followed the signposted path. Walking along the top here was very pleasant as I could look out over the valley to my left and across to the hills on the other side.
After a couple of fields, the path entered an extended patch of bracken. I took the second path on the left that led me down to a dry-stone wall and I walked beside that before coming to a road that climbed upward. Near the top of the road I took the path on the left to bring me to Druid’s Altar.
I could have, ad, perhaps, should have stayed on the original path, for the way that I followed gave me nothing more than exercise!
The path, after the altar, came to Altar Road and I descended that road quite a bit before going through a gap in the wall to climb up some wooden steps into light woodland.
I went through part of Bell Bank Wood, crossed Harden Road and then followed Beckfoot Lane to cross the delightful packhorse bridge over Harden Beck. The bridge over the River Aire leading into Myrtle Park is a more substantial structure. A climb up through the park brought me to the high Street where I could catch #60 back to Leeds.
At this time of year, this tour presents an opportunity to pick brambles along the lane before Currer Laithe Farm.
