Second day of Slovenia West Loop ft. Sava & Kupa.
Started from a campsite near Ljubljana.
Quiet village roads soon meet the Sava again, leading me into Ljubljana. After a short city section, I reach Tivoli Park, where the scenic roads begin. Shortly after a small duck pond, the climbing starts.
It's a long ascent with some very steep sections, but it's manageable. And it's always rewarded with stunning views.
The descent is a mix of smooth asphalt and a very tricky rocky singletrack. I had to dismount a few times.
A few kilometres later, it's time for lunch in Škofja Loka. A charming little town.
Then comes another long climb through forests and remote gravel roads. Some sections are very steep and rocky, so a bit of hike-a-bike was the most reasonable option. The scenery along this part of the route is absolutely stunning. I could easily have spent half an hour at several viewpoints, but I had to keep moving. In the forest, night always seems to arrive a couple of hours earlier than out on the open plains.
A smooth and fast descent brings me to the campsite in Kamna Gorica.
Tent is up. Time to relax.
