Quiet road section is a nice warm up, take the track up and through the farm of Auchronie. Steady climbing gradient to Hill of Kirny, flattens out to Hill of Saughs, extensive high moorland. One steep descent to Burn of Adekimore, equally steep exit on the other side! Hill of Gairney is climbed via a ATV tracked depression in the heather, becoming a narrow heather run towards the top. Back down to track which runs round the hillsides of Little Cock Cairn/Pullar Cuy to Hill of Corn - steep pull up here to Hill of Cat and its distinctive 'fence cross'. Retrace to follow path to Tampie. The next 7km is all downhill, and fast if you are competent...in wet weather one ford could give issues.
