Another morning without an alarm. I woke up around 7 AM, took my time packing camp, made breakfast, washed up, and rolled out just after 9. I've realized that this has quietly become my new daily routine.
It almost feels like a regular workday, just on a bicycle.
Wake up. Pack camp. Ride. Stop somewhere for lunch, usually a pizza or kebab place. Keep riding. Pick up groceries for dinner in the afternoon. Find a quiet place by a lake or in the forest. Set up camp. Eat. Relax. Sleep.
Then do it all again the next day.
There's something incredibly satisfying about how simple life becomes out here.
Today's ride was another peaceful one. Around 105 kilometers through quiet roads, forests and rolling countryside. I crossed paths with another fully loaded bikepacker. I'd slowly catch him on the climbs 2 times, and he'd disappear again on the flats and descents.
The biggest realization today was about the route itself.
It's called "GravelLand Saga", yet for several days now I've been riding mostly on asphalt. At first that felt a little ironic, but somewhere along the way I stopped caring about the surface beneath my tires. Gravel or asphalt.. it doesn't really matter anymore. As long as the roads are quiet, the scenery is beautiful, and I can keep moving forward, I'm exactly where I want to be. 😊
Looking at the map this evening, I realized something else. If I gently increase my daily distance over the next few days, there's a good chance I'll finish the entire journey in about 19 days. No rushing, no racing, just a steady rhythm that somehow brought me farther than I expected.
And honestly... I think I've found my pace. 🐢
