Varied route-mostly off road with sections of very quiet moorland tarmac and cycle friendly south shore road. Initially a fairly steep track up by Moness burn which has stone steps in places, MTBs can climb them. Exiting the woods a short tarmac section takes us to Urlar farm and a good track across high heather moorland to the small reservoir with the green hut. Fast Tarmac downhill to the turn along the singletrack ‘Queens drive’ This becomes a double track and heads down past the Falls of Acharn. Take the south shore road to Kenmore centre. Good coffee and ice cream at the Post Office shop. Now a steep forestry track climb up Drummond hill, great viewpoint on way up, worth a look. The downhill run around the hill is as fast as you want. Take the quiet tarmac to the bridge over the River Lyon then pick up the tight singletrack along the riverbank. At the time of riding the vegetation was high and track narrow, only suitable for off road bikes or walking. River Lyon meets the Tay and becomes a big wide water. Wouldn’t like to do this after rain as tall vegetation makes the track hard to see and you’d be soaked! Back to Aberfeldy and cafe society…
