More sunshine. More quiet roads. More hills. I don’t think there’s any prolonged flats on this entire route, but if you accept the peaks and troughs it’s just wonderful. It’s hard work on a fully laden tourer but it allows you to take the ride at the pace it deserves. Lots to see. Lovely bridges, crystal clear rivers and friendly folk everywhere. I was expecting some kind of signpost marking the end of the route in Eyemouth but couldn’t find one.
We stayed at the Ships Quarters on the harbour which was beautifully refurbished and had the best shower of the entire trip. Good lock up for the bikes to. The hosts couldn’t be more helpful. Went for a celebratory curry on the high street before retiring.
The Kirkpatrick C2C is a real challenge - especially in the challenging weather we had for the first couple of days, but it feels like a real accomplishment - 250 miles of constant hills. Highly recommended.
