Having taken a 4-train extravaganza to reach Stranraer from Newcastle we had a half day of cycling to reach Newton Stewart. A lot of beautiful coastline and rocky outcrops. Very undulating and one particularly steep climb just outside of Stranraer. Ends nicely riding along the river to arrive in Newton Stewart. The Criwn Inn were very accommodating with our bikes, letting us keep them in a room next to reception. Seemed longer than 39 miles but I guess that was the climbs with fully laden touring bikes. 😉
