Day 2: Vagueira to Soure

This was my first day going into unknown territory, putting my full thrust on the GPS device.

The day was mostly flat to start, with a lot, and I mean a lot of straights. Some of the nicest bike infrastructure I’ve seen and I just had a blast by being alone on the road, looking at the nature and realizing how happy I was to finally be doing this!

I met an older gentleman that stopped me asking about my adventure. Who would have guessed traveling by bike with 4 bags would caught the attention of people... He had come by bicycle all the way from Munich to Praia da Mira, though the Camiños de Santiago, and at the time he was waiting for his wife to drive to Portugal to get him and his bike. I want to be like him when I’m older.

I got my first taste of steep hills and how bad it feel to hike the bike on them (more on this later). The wind was getting stronger and as I arrived to Figueira da Foz, which I don’t like for some reason, I started fearing for my life in the city traffic, but that meant I stopped at a random restaurant for a break and had a great, unexpected meal.

After that I had the worst time on a very badly maintained road for the last hours of the trip. I headed to a very nice hotel, which was already full so I went for plan B and stayed at a really weird guest house, which I got locked inside of it right away, just for some extra taste of adventure.
