Pleasant rest day yesterday - partly in tent, partly walking to see nearby waterfall with my camping neighbours who also stayed another day. They depart before me - really so kind of them - invited again yesterday to eat and sit beside their fire.
There's another cyclist in the campsite who I chat with before riding off - new Zealander who is riding this tree-to-sea loop that Naka Creek rec site is included on.
He's headed the opposite way, but tells me there is a climb to start the day - 400-500m up, which is fine. Weather better today and gravel tracks wet, but no issues.
First climb much easier than second, which takes me up almost 1000m - the last part I have to push as the surface is loose rocks and steep. Great views all around.
It's a shorter day of riding, which means I get more time to enjoy the sun and scenery beside Ida Lake when I arrive early evening. Another beautiful and quiet rec site. My tent pitched in front of the lake - picnic bench and fire pit as usual. And more firewood. No network here so sit beside fire reading kindle after cooking beside the lake.
