POLDHU is a small coastal area on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, best known for both its scenic beach and its role in the early history of radio communication.

📍 Where it is

Poldhu sits on the southern coast of England, near the village of Mullion on the Lizard Peninsula—the southernmost part of mainland Britain.

🌊 Poldhu Cove

* A sheltered sandy beach popular with swimmers and surfers
* Backed by cliffs and coastal paths with dramatic Atlantic views
* Managed by the National Trust
* Known for relatively safe bathing compared to nearby rugged coves

📡 Historic significance

Poldhu is famous as the site of pioneering wireless experiments:

* In 1901, Guglielmo Marconi built a wireless transmission station here
* It sent the first transatlantic radio signal to Newfoundland
* This breakthrough proved long-distance radio communication was possible

Today, a monument marks the location of the original station.
