A circular hike to Cala Luna — one of Sardinia's most iconic beaches — via the high inland route and the dramatic descent of Iscala s'Arga, a steep rocky staircase cut into the limestone cliffs above the Gulf of Orosei.
This is the more demanding and rewarding alternative to the standard coastal path from Cala Fuili, reaching Cala Luna from above through wild Supramonte terrain with sweeping panoramic views over the entire gulf.
The route climbs through dense Mediterranean macchia above Cala Gonone before crossing the high plateau and descending via Iscala s'Arga — a vertiginous drop through carved limestone steps and exposed rock faces — to the white sand and turquoise water of Cala Luna.
The beach is framed by towering cave-pitted limestone cliffs and is accessible only on foot or by boat, giving it a remoteness that few beaches in the Mediterranean can match.
The return follows the same high route back to the starting point.
