A compact but varied loop in Sigulda that packs a lot into 5 km. The trail takes you down into Kraukļa Aiza (Raven's Ravine), past the hidden Pētera Ala cave, along the Vējupīte stream on a peaceful riverside path, and finishes with a long staircase climb to the Gleznotāju Kalns viewpoint — one of the finest panoramas over the Gauja valley.
The terrain is classic Latvian ravine trail: uneven, rooty, with plenty of stairs up and down. Expect more physical effort than the short distance suggests.
Benches and small rest spots are positioned at the higher points along the route. No food or drink available on trail — bring your own. The trailhead has free parking; by public transport, take bus 5607 from Sigulda station.
Best in spring (open views through the trees, fresh greenery) and autumn (leaf colour). Worth extending via the Raganas katls side trail near Pētera Ala if you want more.
