WerraTal Crest Trail - Premium Fastpacking Tour

This hiking loop connects the most challenging and beautiful views from the Frau Holle Land all together. Along the way you will follow sections from the Premium Wanderweg P4, P7, P16, P27 and X5H. The trail is sometimes going on very steep sections of the Kolonnenweg close to 30°. One must be fit in order to attempt it. Caution: do not attempt this trail in rainy or bad weather if you don't know what you are doing and if you are not able to improvise alternative trail on the go. One section of the trail is climbing down on the side of the cliffs from BadSooden, be aware that another similar section is equiped with a rope. The slope might be around 45° and impossible or dangerous to climb down or up in muddy or snowy conditions without specific equipment.

The trail is made for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiast. You will regularily find springs and small rivers to fill-up your bladder or flasks with a water-filter. Komot basemap is not good and informations are missing. After the crests over Asbach Sickenberg and befor to continue over the cliffs of Bad Sooden you can make a small detour down hill to the Burgruine Altenstein. A few hundred meters down from it you will find a small spring in the forest which is usually running all year long. You'll see it on topographic map such as opentopomap.
