this approximately 40 km bike tour takes you past the most beautiful spots and sights in our beautiful bulb region. the route takes you along our stunning north sea coast and cuts through the dunes between katwijk and noordwijk, and those between noordwijk and zandvoort. from the start, you'll cycle along one of the most beautiful boulevards in the netherlands. having left the lighthouse behind you, the next monument is already in sight: the white or old church. The church was built around 1640, after the previous church was destroyed by the Spanish in 1572. The bell dates from 1594. After arriving in Noordwijk, a visit to the Atlantic Wall Museum is highly recommended. This museum is housed in an old German ammunition bunker. The bunker has been converted into an exhibition space where, among other things, over 200 photographs can be viewed. After a beautiful ride through the dunes and forests, we'll enjoy a cup of coffee or tea at the Nederzandt beach restaurant, located in the dunes at Langevelderslag. Departing from Nederzandt, we leave the dune landscape and head into the bulb fields. On our journey through the world-famous bulb fields, we visit various cultural and historical sites in the Bulb Region. We pass, and if desired, the old Lisse train station. A little further on, you can visit Keukenhof Castle, dating from 1642, and we pass the world-famous Keukenhof flower exhibition. Continuing our journey through the beautiful bulb fields, we arrive in Sassenheim at the Teylingen Ruins, dating from 1271. Leaving the ruins behind, the tour continues towards Voorhout and Rijnsburg. From there, it's a few more kilometers of cycling along the Oude Rijn (Old Rhine) to the Uitwatering. Cycling from the Uitwatering, the finish line at the second-oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands, dating from 1628, is already in sight.
