3 degrees celcius, no clouds, bright sun, some wind especially on mountain tops, snow depth about 20-40cm. The plan was to go to Hengeltjørn cabin on this day and it continued like that for quite some time. However doubts and uncertainty started to set seeds in our minds because our progression during the hike was very slow. This was because we were less experienced with the cross country skiing and also having backpacks that weighed quite a bit. So "enjoying" many many falls and tumbles slowly breaking our spirit and strength we eventually decided before the midpoint to return, so we would reach a cabin to sleep in before the sunset and conditions becoming dangerous. In addition during the tumbles I somehow lost my glasses, tore open my hiking pants, loosing a pair of sunglasses, almost loosing my swish army knife and also messing up my knee, which I struggled with the coming days. However there were also bright moments of slowly becoming better and better at cross-country skiing, learning new things for next time (skiing across lakes, looking at the terrain differently compared to summer, be careful with glasses as they can easily be lostand other things, returning is sometimes the best option). All things considered this was an intense and challenging hike but also very beautiful with sun shining all day and beautiful surrounding. It is definitely worth for a redemption someday I the future.
