Today’s 7.6 km hike up to Geumsan, completed in 2.5 hours, was surprisingly good. I parked at the newly built car park next to a large new building that said it was going to be a roadside rest area.

The first kilometer of the trail was easy going with a gentle incline. It was the same trail I had stumbled on after getting lost in prickly shrubs on Thursday. The surprise came when I saw a hermitage at Busoam and even greater surprise to find a temple near the peak of Geumsan Mountain. Considering it was a monday with rain, I was surprised to find loads of tourists on the mountain top. I soon realised they had cheated as there was a car park near the peak.
