Enjoyed the road toward Mértola and relaxed a bit into the morning with a coffee and a pastel de nata. After that the route uses some quite roads and more and more gravel when getting towards Castro Verde. Super nice and diverse route with a change in landscape after half of the route. The gravel path at the end seems to go through some private path from 46km to 50km were it meets the gravelbirds path. The gates were easy to open and I passed a farm house but no one was there. Only on the last gate I saw the writing "no trespassing" on the other side. Not sure if it is maybe not problem with the bike. After that there are some gravel paths also used for hiking with gates that are okay to open. Unfortunately on one of the last ones there was a chain with a lock so I had to lift my bike over the gate. I was surprised as I was seeing icons of hiking paths also on that gate. This was just after the little lake at 55km. The rest of the route going into town was lovely with just a view barking dogs behind fences.
