Waypoints

A

Ammer River

Highlight • River

About 120,000 years ago, during the Young Moraine era, the Ammer sought after leaving the Alps their way north.
Between Altenau and Peißenberg a magnificent Ammerschlucht formed. Here, about 15 km from the source, the river made this impressive breakthrough, the Scheibum.
The Scheibum consists of marl and sandstone. The various layers of rock that were created during the Alpine exploitation about 25-30 million years ago are very well visible here as natural limestone, as clay, as white and gray quartz and as slate.
It is 600 m long, up to 80 m deep and has been under conservation since 1949.

Schleierfälle

Highlight • Waterfall

The Schleier falls are not among the highest waterfalls, yet they exude a certain charm. Untouched nature shows itself here from its most beautiful side. A stream pours over the moss-covered steps into the bunting. Directly under the overhanging waterfall is the entrance to the Schleierwasserfallhöhle, where we used to crawl as children.

Goat enclosure

Highlight • Structure

In a small game reserve you can watch goats happily going about their business or lounging around. They seem to like my carrots, which I had actually planned as provisions for the trip....

That with the flowers and the crickets - well, certainly the right season. Rather not with the snow picture and our autumn hike.
In any case, a charming walk along the forest, with plenty of peace and views over the hills to the south.
