The Everest of Flanders refers to Mont Cassel, the highest point in French Flanders at 176 metres above sea level. This circuit of around forty kilometres does not climb to its summit, but goes around it. It alternates between quiet roads and small climbs for a varied outing. The route is suitable for electric bikes, available for hire on site.
The start is in Terdeghem, a typical village with its mill and its tavern. On the way, Sainte-Marie-Cappel reveals its chapels and its craft brewery. In Oxelaëre, the red brick houses and the Boulet de Cassel cheese mark a gourmet break.
Further on, Noordpeene tells the story of the Battle of the Peene in 1677, a decisive clash between the French and the Dutch. After a stop in Hardifort, the return to Terdeghem completes this beautiful escapade between heritage, gastronomy and Flemish landscapes.
