Belknap Range Trailhead

Highlight • Trail

You park off of Carriage Road and have a choice of two trails — south to Piper Mountain, which is more gradual, or north to Gunstock. The map kiosk at the trailhead has good information on the nearby trails.

Piper Mountain Trail

The Piper Mountain Trail is a popular route that takes you to the summit from the north side. The trail starts in the woods and opens out onto the bedrock ridge as you get near the top.

The summit is a throne of open stone slabs that grant views across the Gunstock range, west to Winnisquam, and northeast toward Winnipesaukee. This hike is especially beautiful in the fall.
