Herdsman's Hill

Highlight • Trail

A magnificent view, worth the climb. Simple stone steps can be found at the particularly steep sections. These sections are a bit challenging on the descent, but manageable with good shoes and a little patience.

This trail offers magnificent views (especially on the descent)!

Hiking poles are recommended for the descent, as these trails are naturally uneven. Add to that the gradient of a good 30%.

A beautiful, varied route with forests, heaths, mountains, views, and lakes.
Highly recommended!

It was a great hike! The little detour at the beginning of the tour was an accident—please don't try it yourself 😅

Day 2 This was a pilgrimage to the @Yugen Explore and @Iona Adventuring hike we did this time 3 years ago with our first hiking meetup 😍 the last time was a total white out so it was cool to go back and get the amazing views from the top.
This is one of my favourite hikes in Scotland. It's got it all - an incredible green lagoon, a remote bothy where you can stop to make a cuppa and a stiff mountain hike to a summit with panoramic views (today I could see the snow-capped Cairngorms). I tested out @KEEN Footwear's Terradora Flex boot, which proved to have great …
The Meall a’ Bhuachaille is an 810 meter high mountain in Scotland. Its Gaelic name means mountain of the shepherd. The mountain is located within the Cairngorms National Park in the Glenmore Forest Park on the northern edge of the Cairngorms in the Highland council area, about 10 kilometers east of Aviemore. Instead of walking with lots of people on the wide main path, this tour takes you from the visitor center on a narrow path through an enchanting fairytale forest. An Lochan Uaine is also an excellent starting point for the hike up to the summit of Meall a’ Bhuachaille. The …
