Rock Pond, Ernzen

In the midst of towering red sandstone rocks, the Felsenweiher was once created for rearing carp. Since the pond was not profitable, breeding was abandoned and the small pond quickly became a popular destination for the population.

October 3, 2024,🇩🇪 Falkenlei – Schweineställe Runde von Ferschweiler
Start at the Weilerbach hiking car park 54669 Ernzen
The narrow valley not far from Ernzen, which has the unusual name "Schweineställe", is lined with impressive sandstone cliffs.

There is an enchanted atmosphere here. Even today, it is visible on the rock walls that the gorge used to be used as a quarry, and the cross carved into the rock …

The hike begins in Ernzen at Felsenweiher. There are also some parking spaces there. The Felsenweiher is already a highlight at the beginning of the hike. I had planned the Felsenweg. But since we were traveling with 3 generations, we decided to go a little below the rock formations. It is a very nice hiking trail and definitely worth it.

Nice little tour done today. First visited from the parking lot at the Felsenweiher - wonderful! - then hiked along the German-Luxembourg Rock Trail to the pigsties. You can read about what the pigsties are all about in many of the comments. We followed number 53 for the most part, but shortened the lap a bit.

The tour today was beautiful 🥰🥰

Again many great rocks, in between flowers, water, the Schweinestallschlucht and the Felsenweiher... at the beginning a lot of vision and a rapeseed field 🥰.... it was a really great round 🥰 Very varied ♥️♥️

Really nice hike over great paths, narrow paths, stairs, past great rocks. Unfortunately a bit short at 6 km, I could have hiked even longer. But there is the 17km tour that still leads through the Teufelsschlucht.

Today we are on the road in the southern Eifel. I remember the Felsenweiher in Ernzen from my childhood days, and I want to visit it again sometime. We start our hike at the rustic pond. On a narrow path we follow the Gutenbach on its way to the Sauer. We walk through an impressive rocky landscape. I feel like …
