Great historic path, mostly a narrow, rustic and idyllic path that runs from Freistett to Helmlingen along the Mühlbach, mainly in the shade. For the way back I chose a different route in some places, but because of the beauty of the path section and the abundance of shade I would recommend the same way back on hot days.

After returning from our short trip to the Palatinate, we finished off our walk with a short walk through the Rhine meadows.
Parked at the Freistett sewage treatment plant, we followed the Mühlbach-Wiede trail to the Rhine. We returned past the Helmlinger Baggersee lake.
