Tappoch broch occupies the summit of a rocky knoll in the middle of Tor Wood. It is surrounded by a pair of concentric banks which would originally have been boulder-faced walls with rubble cores.

Fantastic walk out this morning through Torwood, up to Tappoch Broch and through the old forrest round to Torwood Castle.

Relatively easy walk but solid footwear is required as a lot of the walk is over tree routes.

The route to Tappoch Broch is well waymarked. I even had a pause to swing on the tree rope swing.
