From the Hotel Kröller (1,204 m) in Gmünd, hiking trail no. 6 leads into the Gerlos side valley with the lush green alpine meadows and the rushing Wimmerbach stream along the way. After a short, somewhat steeper ascent, you will pass Klammer's Jausenhütte (1,365 m) and finally, after about half an hour's walk, you will reach the Wimmertalalm snack station (1,375 m). Well-fortified, a further 300 meters in altitude to the end of the valley can also be easily mastered by hikers with less mountain experience. Tip: ascent to the Wimmerscharte (2,500 m) possible for experienced mountaineers.
