Since the sun initially held back, it was very dark inside the neo-Gothic Apollinaris Church, and the enormous paintings by the late Nazarenes left me with a rather oppressive feeling.

Behind the church, a few steps lead up into the woods. After an unavoidable stretch of muddy terrain, you reach the green, algae-covered Waldschlösschen pond.
