Niddaknie

Highlight • River

At the so-called Nidda knee you can take a look at the exemplary Nidda renaturation. After just a short time, the natural habitat here began to decline. Many species of fish and even kingfishers, beavers and the European pond turtle have made their home there again.

Bird's Nest

Highlight • Rest Area

Next to the Nidda cycle path, a shallow water pond with variable humidity was created that serves as a spawning ground for tree frogs and green toads. You can easily observe the goings-on there from the Vogelnest rest area.

February 9, 2022,Niddaaue Naturschutzgebiet – Die Nidda bei Gronau Runde von Gronau
The tour is scenically quite nice, but only paved paths and almost always designated as a bike path. Correspondingly difficult with a dog and only good at times when there are few cyclists on the road. And they're really good.

Small tour, exciting for children thanks to the bird's nest and the Nidda, and also suitable for pushchairs. Families who want to do a short ride are in the right place here 👍. Warning: Lots of bicycle traffic on weekends and public holidays!

... there are only wrong clothes🤔 I thought so… until everything was under water😆
Heroic fresh air after all

A tour that was quite pleasant to walk, but which I would only run again in the fall or in the spring and that right in the morning.

At the moment, the paths directly on the Nidda are "closed" due to the breeding and settling season - part of our path apparently went through such a closed zone, but unfortunately …
