Guadarrama River Greenway

Highlight • Cycleway

This cycle path runs along the old railway line between Madrid and Almorox, built in the 19th century for the transport of passengers and goods, mainly vegetables, from Toledo to Madrid.

In the 1950s and 1960s it was very crowded in summer as the people of Madrid used it to go and enjoy bathing in the waters of the Guadarrama and Alberche rivers. The train was closed in 1970, but today the infrastructure is used by cyclists to reach the regional park of the middle course of the Guadarrama River from Móstoles, circulating between cereal fields.

I wish this bridge had existed in my childhood :-D
One of the few points to cross the river.
An alternative to pass in Móstoles (El Soto park) or over the iron bridge (Guadarrama neighborhood).

Iron Bridge of Móstoles

Highlight • Bridge

I've known him for many years. I came to him in my GAC motoretta-2 when he was little.
Now it is restored and the Guadarrama river can be crossed over it with complete tranquility, but before it could only be done through the narrow passage that was on its side. A precarious fence separated you from an imposing fall.

It is a narrow gauge railway bridge that belonged to the Madrid-Almorox line (first section from Madrid-Paseo de Extremadura Station to Navalcarnero) with a stop near the bridge at the Colonia Guadarrama halt.
In 2011 the roof was remodeled, covering the gaps in the sleepers with a wooden entablature, being its exclusive use for cyclists and pedestrians within the Vía Verde del Guadarrama.

Now it is very neat and allows you to cross the Guadarrama without dismounting, but you should have seen it years ago... :-D

Batres Spring

Highlight • Natural Monument

Very cool water. It is almost the closest we can get to the castle of Batres

Friends: it is prohibited to ride a bike on this track, it is exclusively pedestrian, although it may not seem like it, but the prohibition is properly signposted. Whether you come from Carranque/Ugena, or from Torrejón/A42, you have to enter Casarrubuelos and cross the town through the urban area.
I repeat: it is prohibited to travel on this road.
