June 22, 2025,Camino a Santiago - día 11.1 - von Irun nach Zubieta
The train connection worked perfectly. After a coffee in Irun, we continued on the EV1. A perfect tour in a natural paradise. I can only repeat myself, the Basque Country is a dream. After eleven nights in a tent, today was a well-deserved place to stay – it was about time :) I spontaneously picked it out and found it …

First day in Spain 🇪🇸
Very difficult step.
The EV1 on the first 25 kms is partly rolling with difficult sections.
Holes, stones and so on.
Then mountain. Pass of 10 kms of climb!
On arrival, no camping 😢⛺️
We bivouac!

Showing Translation

You leave the ocean to head towards the Pyrenees still traveling along the EV1 which, in this stretch, uses a green way built on the site of an old railway that goes up the Bidassoa. Morning with blue sky, afternoon more rain.
