North Avenue Dam Pedestrian Bridge

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

The North Avenue Dam Pedestrian Bridge is a cool bridge that crosses over the Milwaukee River. You can look up the river to the north or down the wider channel to the south. The bridge also helps connect the Milwaukee River Revitalization property to Caesar's Park.

Although not much of the beach can be seen from here, it is still a nice lookout point to Lake Michigan. We were presented with rich colors on our visit in autumn.

McKinley Beach

Highlight • Beach

This beach, constructed in 1989, serves dual purposes: as a recreational area and a barrier between the lake and the road, addressing the fluctuating water levels. The views from here, overlooking the lake and Government Pier, are stunning.

Veterans Park Lagoon

Highlight • Lake

Veterans Park Lagoon is a 14-acre reservoir within the greater Veterans Park. Some paved paths circle around the water, and there is plenty of green space and picnic areas.

Milwaukee Art Museum

Highlight • Monument

A great art museum that presents art chronologically from antiquity to the present day. The focus here is on American art from the 19th century to the modern age. There is also a lot of German art. Impressive architecture!

Milwaukee Art Museum

Highlight • Monument

Founded in 1988, the Milwaukee Art Museum houses almost 25,000 art works, as well as unique exhibitions and workshops. The building is spectacular; the Burke Brise Soleil 'wings' open with the museum and at noon.

You can visit from 10am until 5pm Wednesday to Sunday (and until 8pm on Thursdays).

Milwaukee RiverWalk

Highlight • Trail

Read the chronicles of Milwaukee from 1846 to 1983 in the wooden floor of the pathway. What an idea, what an effort!
