Upper and Lower Haus-Herzberger Pond

Highlight • Lake

The Upper Haus-Herzberger Pond is the second-highest body of water in a four-tiered pond cascade.
The pond dam currently measures 7.20 meters in height and approximately 215 meters in length.

On the northern shore of the expansive body of water is a forest lake swimming pool with a beach area just over 150 meters long.

The Lower Haus-Herzberger Pond measures approximately 270 meters in length and is up to 130 meters wide. Its dam is approximately 8.70 meters high and 170 meters long. It is fed almost entirely by the excess water from the Upper Haus-Herzberger Pond. Only comparatively small amounts of surface water and precipitation also enter the pond.

This pond is primarily used for fishing.

Great Kellerhals Pond

Highlight • Lake

About three kilometers northeast of the Clausthal-Zellerfeld district Zellerfeld is located directly on the leading to Goslar Highway 241, the Great Kellerhalsteich. The dam of this well-known under the name Mittlerer Kellerhalsteich water body was created in 1724 mainly from the material of about 90 years previously built predecessor dam, which was located about 100 meters above the present building. The dam is about 15 meters high and 280 meters long and its construction was done in the then latest dam construction technique.
The Great Kellerhalsteich once served to supply the mines around Zellerfeld and Bockswiese with water to power various technical facilities. For this purpose, the water could be directed both via the Zellerfelder Kunstgraben in the direction of Zellerfeld and via the Kellerhalser Graben into the mining area near Bockswiese. Surrounded on three sides by dense coniferous and mixed forest, the pond is about 290 meters long and about 250 meters wide. Its maximum storage space is 474,000 m³. Thus, the Große Kellerhalsteich next to the Oderteich, the Prinzenteich and the Hirschler pond belongs to the largest Upper Harz mining.
Today, the Große Kellerhalsteich serves to supply the nearby town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld with drinking water. For this reason, you can not bathe in this pond. The catchment area of the Große Kellerhalsteich is also a water protection area.

I got this tour from the HarzApp, which supports OutdoorActive, and copied it from there to Komoot.
Today's tour was really fun.🚵🏻‍♂️😎
Right in the first third, there's the awesome descent to Wildemann. It's not easy, but the adrenaline rush is there.😝
Otherwise, you'll be rewarded again and again with fantastic views.
With forest highways and single trails, uphill ↗️ …
