View of Duck Island

Highlight • Lake

This lovely small artificial island within the lake, formerly known as Swan Island, was initially built as a bird sanctuary, a home for swans gifted from Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1936. The program ended in 1983, and the island remains an official reserve. It is a great place to see a hawk, eagle or osprey hunting for fish.

Green Lake Aqua Theater

Highlight • Monument

This historic landmark was built in 1950 for the very first Seafair. Various shows were held here, from the Aqua Follies synchronized swimming to the famous Led Zeppelin concert in 1969, followed by a performance by the Grateful Dead. It now serves many community purposes, is home to the Green Lake rowing club and is used by those who want to use the stairs for fitness. It is a great place to climb to the top, take in the view, and possibly catch a glimpse of a bald eagle.
