Bruder Klaus Chapel Havixbeck

Highlight • Religious Site

The memorial was built in 1987 for the 850th anniversary of the parish of St. Dionysius Havixbeck on the initiative of the now retired pastor A. Wöstmann using donations in kind and money. The center of the simple, down-to-earth half-timbering is the wagon wheel in the southern gable wall, the important meditation aid in the prayer of Brother Klaus. It illustrates the connection of all things with God, it is the symbol of "life from the center". Offset below it is the figure of the upright, straightforward, simple, protective Brother Klaus, Nicholas of the Flüe (1417-1487), created by the sculptor Joseph Krautwald (+ January 2003), who was canonized in 1947. He reminds us: "Peace is always in God - for God is peace!".
This chapel is intended to be a simple place of prayer that invites hikers to rest and relax and to open our eyes to the vastness of our world with God's good gifts.
