Today we visited Carcassonne, a medieval city in the Languedoc region of southern France. Its most famous feature is the fortress, La Cité, with its numerous watchtowers and double walls. The fortress is unique in Europe in terms of its size and state of preservation. Since 1997, the fortress has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
