Abandoned Banti Sanatorium, Pratolino

The construction of this hospital structure began in 1934 based on a design by engineers Giocoli and Romoli and was completed in the autumn of 1939. The Pratolino Sanatorium, named after the doctor Bindo dei Vecchi, was inaugurated without fanfare on 28 October 1939. After the end of the war and in conjunction with the notable reduction in tuberculosis, the building was transformed into a hospital facility, a function it continued to perform until 1989. It is currently in a state of total abandonment.
