Main River Valley near Sennfeld and Weyer

Highlight (Segment) • River

On the Mainradweg you can ride a racing bike on this section, which is mostly well paved. On beautiful summer days, unfortunately, there is also a lot on the road, so caution is required at high speeds.

Max Bridge, Schweinfurt

Highlight • Bridge

In 1802 Schweinfurt came to Bavaria. After a short break between 1810 and 1814, when Schweinfurt was briefly part of the Grand Duchy of Würzburg, Schweinfurt came back to Bavaria (Kingdom of Bavaria). The memorial with the obelisk, which stands at the Maxbrücke in the direction of Sennfeld, was erected between 1902 and 1903 to commemorate Schweinfurt's 100-year membership in Bavaria. At the end of the Second World War, the Maxbrücke was blown up by the Germans in 1945, which was intended to prevent the Allied forces from advancing. The memorial was also damaged in the process. The Maxbrücke was rebuilt, the remains of the monument were torn down in 1958. Today's monument at the Maxbrücke is a reconstruction that was erected in 2012 based on old pictures (this reconstruction was carried out by the Schweinfurt Harmonie Society, which was the sponsor for it).
