Vineyards Lane and Carbone Hill Climbs

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Two steep-ish decents and climbs back-to-back. North is a bit easier than south. Lots of cyclists on both, and despite being small roads often cars.

Northward Downhill Stretch Near Hertford

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Long steady uphill when travelling from the north to south. Not much traffic on this road either.

Watton to Walkern Road

Highlight • Viewpoint

I love cycling along here from Watton to Walkern. Generally little traffic, lovely views and a gentle gradient. It feels a lot further from London than it is and Church Farm at Ardelely is very close.

Descent on the Datchworth–Watton Road

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

A lovely stretch of road, one of my favourites, don't forget to take in the scenery as you go by.

Tewin is a pretty Hertfordshire village with a chocolate box charm. It features a village shop, pub and idyllic village green.

Essendon Hill

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Fast 40mph/65kph downhill when travelling northbound. Nice sweeping wide left turn, but careful of the right angle turn at the end. Can be easy to misjudge and go in too fast! Quiet road generally

Cumcum Hill Climb

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Awful name for a road but the hill is quite steep
