Rudufersee

Highlight • Lake

The Rudufer bathing lake offers a (small) sandy beach and a non-swimmer area with a flat shore. Sun loungers and pedal boats can be rented from a rental shop. When the weather is nice, a kiosk with a terrace café is open from 1 p.m. There are also sanitary facilities.

Swimming and the bathing beach are free, but there is a small fee for parking (3 euros per day, 1 euro for two hours)

Tents and camping are also permitted at the Rudufersee. However, this must be applied for at the local authority. Tents are only permitted at the designated fire pits, and mobile homes may only be parked in the car park.

Schwürbitz Main Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The crossing of the Main is of great economic and social importance for Schwürbitz. A Main bridge has been documented since 1851. After the Lichtenfels-Hof Northern Railway was put into operation in 1847, it was important not to miss the connection to the big wide world and to provide good access to the railway. The most important link to the Hochstadt train station was the wooden footbridge over the Main in Schwürbitz. In 1851, this wooden footbridge, which had suffered greatly after several floods, was secured. The wobbly wooden frame was secured with "Wiedseile" or "Wieden", which were bands twisted from suitable branches that were indispensable for rafting. The five "experts" were paid nine kreuzers and board for their work.

A worthy conclusion to a very nice tour. Of all the driveways I know so far to Lichtenfels, this is by far the most beautiful.
