The town hall of Mertert (Lux.: Mäertert mixture house, French: Mairie de Mertert) was originally built as a Prince Heinrich railway station. The station, built in the neoclassical style, is in the town of Wasserbillig (lux.: Waasserbëlleg) and was part of the Ettelbrück–Grevenmacher railway line of the Prince Heinrich Railway Company.[1]

In 1874, 13 years after the opening of the Wilhelm-Luxemburg-Bahn (1861), the line of the Prinz-Heinrich-Bahn was opened from Echternach to Wasserbillig through the Sauertal, which was extended in 1891 to Mertert and Grevenmacher. The Prince Heinrich station was built in 1895. In 1896 the Buffet de la Gare was set up inside. In 1954, the Diekirch – Wasserbillig railway line was closed. The entire Ettelbrück–Grevenmacher railway line could not be operated profitably during its existence. In 1963 all rail traffic on the route was discontinued.[2][3]

In 1981, the municipality of Mertert acquired the former station building, had it restored and has been using it as the seat of the municipal administration ever since. A park was created in the area of the former railway line around today's town hall.

A very nice AP! Went to the bridge to touch on Germany. The Tourist Info of Wasserbillig and Langsur is also located there. The end of the street to the church does not actually belong to the AP. Recommended!
