The Kreekrak locks are locks located in the Scheldt-Rhine Canal in the municipality of Reimerswaal, in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The locks were officially opened on September 23, 1975. Every day, inland vessels pass through the Kreekrak locks on their way between the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam. Windpark Kreekraksluis is located on and near the lock.
The Kreekrak locks form the connection between the Zoommeer and the southern branch of the Scheldt-Rhine Canal. South of the Kreekrak locks, the Scheldt-Rhine Canal cuts through South Beveland. The complex consists of two locks of equal size for shipping, each with a total length of 320 meters and a width of 24 meters. The locks are constructed as a fresh-salt separation system. In principle, the fresh water of the Zoommeer cannot mix with the salt water of the canal. Because salt water has a higher density than fresh water, when ships are on their way to Rotterdam, the salt water is pumped out at the bottom of the locks, while fresh water is added from above. The reverse happens for ships en route from the Zoommeer to Belgium. In 1996, the fresh-salt separation system of the Kreekrak sluices was switched off and replaced by plug flow through the use of a pumping station with a flow rate of approximately 5 m³/s to the Antwerp Canal Building.

British field of honor Bergen op Zoom

Highlight • Historical Site

The British war cemetery in Bergen op Zoom houses the graves of 1,296 fallen soldiers. An identical tomb of white natural stone with an emblem and a cross in relief has been placed at each grave. In the center is the 'Cross of Sacrifice', made of Portland natural stone. A bronze sword is mounted on the cross. It is a standard Commonwealth War Graves Commission cross. In the foreground of the cemetery is 'The Stone of Memory'.

In the hall that provides access to the cemetery, there is a register with the names of these soldiers.
The British war cemetery reminds the residents of Bergen op Zoom of the 1,296 allied soldiers of the British Commonwealth who died during the battle for possession of the Scheldt estuary.

The memorial is under the protection of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. There are a total of sixteen British Commonwealth war cemeteries in the Netherlands.

Port of Tholen

Highlight • Structure

This bronze ship gun was cast in 1614 by Johannes Burgerhuys in Middelburg. It probably comes from a ship of the Zeeland Admiralty. The gun was fished up in 1971 by the fishing vessel Breskens 5 in the North Sea west of Dunkirk. Through the mediation of the Huis en Heem association, which had a gun carriage made, it could be placed in 1983 on the dike along the Thoolse harbour, near the Brugstraat.
