Public beach

Highlight • Beach

Nice place, but crowded... Generally, in the high season, driving to Zegrze... a bit of masochism :-)

Cycle Path Along the Żerański Canal

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

I preferred the old single track along the canal, now it's a highway and hundreds of cut down trees.

Kanał Żerański Path

Highlight • Trail

Very nice gravel-asphalt road along the Żerań Canal. Leveled, widened, very friendly to ride.

Bicycle Path Along the Zoo

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Nice and friendly, you can look through the fence at llamas and other creatures :-).
Although in the summer let's make an appointment - there's a bit of rain and it's better to go on the other side or on the Vistula ;-)

The Warsaw Old Town is the historical center of the Polish capital Warsaw. After its complete destruction in the Second World War in 1944, it was rebuilt largely true to the original between 1949 and 1955 and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List on September 2, 1980.

The idea of building a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Vistula River has been around for years. In 2016, the investment budget was included in the multi-annual investment plan of Warsaw. When choosing the location, two concepts were mainly taken into account: at the height of Karowa Street or at the height of Ratuszowa Street. Ultimately, the choice fell on the first one. This is another concept for locating the Vistula crossing in this place. The design competition was won by DKFS Architects and Schüßler-Plan. The length of the crossing is 452 meters. The crossing was opened on March 28, 2024

Warsaw University Gate

Highlight • Monument

(PL)
A historic gate located at 26/28 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, which is the main entrance to the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw. Initially, in the same place there was a gate designed by Jan Zygmunt Deybel and Joachim Daniel Jauch, which was ordered to be built by Augustus II the Strong around 1732. It was topped with a characteristic large tin globe. They captured it in their paintings, among others: Bernardo Bellotto and Zygmunt Vogel. This gate survived until June 12, 1819. In 1823, a more modest gate was built, but not on the street line but deep inside the university grounds.

The current neo-baroque gate was designed around 1900 by Stefan Szyller. It was put into use in 1911, and the street leading to the campus called "Uniwersytecka" was handed over to the university. Until 1916, the gate was topped with the crowned letter "A", which was the symbol of the university at that time, referring to the name of its founder - Tsar Alexander I. During the period of the Polish People's Republic, an eagle without a crown was placed on the gate, which was the then state emblem. Today, as in the years 1916–1944, the gate bears an eagle with a crown surrounded by five stars, which is the official emblem of the University of Warsaw.
In 1984, the gate was entered into the register of monuments as part of the University of Warsaw complex.
