Staying in Exeter, we caught a train to Paignton, walked along the coast then headed up towards the main road. Decided to catch the bus along the road part (no 12 or 22) takes you in or close to Torquay. Explored Torquay, stopping at TQ Beerworks for a decent drink then caught the train back to Exeter.
