Peschiera del Garda Railway Bridge

The construction of the Peschiera del Garda railway bridge began in 1841 at the behest of the Austrian government, with a dual purpose: military and civil. The bridge fit perfectly into Peschiera's defensive structures, as the town was a fortress of great strategic value. It is no coincidence that the doors of Peschiera del Garda's railway station were opened that year. However, the course of history was not kind to the bridge, which was badly damaged by bombing during the Second World War.
