The Way of St. James Via Scandinavica offers a connection along a migratory bird route
from the Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn to Northern Germany. Via Lübeck, Lüneburg, Celle,
Hanover, and Göttingen, the route continues to the border region between Thuringia
and Hesse, from where paths lead us towards Santiago de Compostela, Rome,
and Jerusalem.
This section of Stage 7, circumnavigating Lake Behlendorf, leads along this route. After Berkenthin, you leave the Elbe-Lübeck Canal for a day. You first hike over an open hill, which offers you magnificent views, and shortly afterwards along Lake Behlendorf.
