Forge Valley Roasters

Highlight • Cafe

A good tea room for a stop at the southern most point of the North York Moors. Plenty of outside space for bikes.

Highwood Brow Viewpoint

Highlight • Forest

Highwood Brow stands at an elevation of 208m (682ft) and affords views straight up the Langdale Valley toward Fylingdales Moor and Langdale Rigg.

Over time the area has become more forested, and although this creates a lovely setting for a walk, it does restrict the views somewhat. A short stroll between the trees will take you to an open viewpoint where you can enjoy the scenery in all its glory.

Highwood Brow Viewpoint

Highlight • Forest

Highwood Brow is at 682 feet (208 m) and enjoys impressive views over Langdale Valley towards Fylingdales Moor. However, the area has become more forested over time, so you might need to hunt for a good spot for that perfect view!

There's a trig point here as well as some signage indicating different cycling routes, including the Moor to Sea Cycle Trail.

While riding on the easy flat track here on Troutsdale Brow, you'll get to enjoy the spectacular, green and far-reaching views over Trouts Dale, towards Troutsdale Moor and Staindale to the north-west and more generally over Dalby Forest.

Hackness is a small village with a Grade I listed church, parts of which date from the 11th century. Hackness Hall and its landscape gardens were created in the 1790s.

Low Hall

Highlight • Viewpoint

Amazing views of the North York Moors from the climb up to Low Hall. Certainly not the toughest climbs in the region, but a good test none the less. Low Hall is also in a nice area with a pretty church, so a pleasure to cycle through.

Scalby Beck Viaduct

Highlight • Structure

This is an old railway viaduct near what was Scalby railway station. Long since closed; no real description remains of the station. But it's worth stopping on the viaduct to look at the Beck from high above, offering pleasant views!

Throxenby Mere

Highlight • Lake

This is a lovely and serene pond just outside Scarborough. There is a useful car park area, where it'd be easy to stop and give your bike a bit of a breather. Don't fail to walk out onto the fishing platforms to get a good view of the mere - unless they're already occupied by anglers with whom the Mere is quite popular.
