Perched atop a green mound next to the sea, Bamburgh Castle is one of the most impressive castles in the UK. Built as early as the 5th century, the castle has witnessed many important eras of history – from the era of Anglo-Saxons to the Vikings, and Normal rule to the Second World War.

In 1894, Victorian Industrialist William Armstrong purchased the castle. His family still own it. You can visit the castle from 11am - 4.30pm daily. Tickets cost £11.25 per adult. You can find more information, here: bamburghcastle.com

Bamburgh Castle

Highlight • Viewpoint

There has been a castle here for 1400 years, since the Anglo Saxon Kings used it as the stronghold in Northumbria. The current castle sits on a 9 acre rocky plinth, it's one of the largest inhabited castles in the country.
You can visit the castle and the pretty village but some of the best views are from the beach.

July 1, 2023,Bamburgh Castle and Walk to Seahouses 🇬🇧
We conclude our last day in Berwick with this beautiful coastal excursion. I never thought that there were such dunes here and that the North Sea could be so clear and green-blue 😍. Bamburgh Castle is well worth a visit. However, we did not consistently walk the England coastal path on the beach because it was extremely windy.
