On the trail through the beautiful Zschopau Valley. Along an old ore railway line, past old tunnels – good luck!
We stopped at the Wasserschänke (water tavern) for a shandy and a Würzfleisch (spiced meat). Definitely recommended.
The hike is manageable without much effort.

Today's hike started in Sachsenburg from the parking lot by the Zschopau River. We followed the river to Mittweida and back. It was a very peaceful area with lots of wildlife; only the kingfisher refused to be photographed, and the beaver was still asleep.

Directly at the parking lot the stairs go up to Sachsenburg Castle, if you would like to add a small extension :)

From there, cross the Rossau Bridge to the other side and from there take the Zschopau …

Today I ran my planned route for "Women's Day".

I only met strong women: Elisabeth von Rochlitz, Elsa Brändström, St. Anne, wives of concentration camp prisoners,...

I had snow❄️ but also mud under my feet.

Sometimes the Zschopau rippled along quietly, sometimes it resembled raging streams. I followed its meanders as well as its straight lines.
