Did you know? Engineer. B. Malevskis prepared a project of fragmentary restoration and conservation of the southeast tower of the fortress. Although the work done was small, they are very significant to the history of the preservation of the Island Castle. 1929–1941 The restoration of the castle was supervised by a Polish engineer, architect J. Borovskis. During that period, the bottom of the masonry was reinforced, part of the corner conforations were restored, the ruins were removed from the façade, the donjon was strengthened, and the reconstruction of the representative hall was started.

A historic site, unfortunately also very touristy. There are a lot of party boats moored at the pier, a hint of what goes on here during peak season.
We were there very early, but we were still overrun by busloads of lively Asians.
It's probably still a bit chilly in April, but that's a good thing 😉
